Fitment is the full Z6 and Z9⁺ line: Z6 24-in, Z6 44-in, Z6dr, Z6 Pro, Z9⁺ 24-in, Z9⁺ 44-in, Z9⁺dr and Z9⁺ Pro. Those are the machines PSE sells as the Studio 24 Pro and the Studio 44. A DesignJet T-series machine such as the T830 takes an entirely different ink family, so if that is the name on your machine this is not your magenta.

What Magenta does on this platform

Magenta is one of the core process colors and sees consistent use across most color print jobs. It depletes with general color work rather than with one particular job type, which makes it a standing-reorder line rather than an emergency one. For whoever raises the purchase order, that is the useful distinction: magenta belongs on the list with the rest of the set, ordered against the level shown on the front panel rather than against a single job.

Size and cost per liter

Cost per liter is the one lever on ink spend here, and it moves with tank size rather than with anything you can change at the printer. This 300-ml cartridge is the size both platforms share. On the Z9⁺ series the same magenta is also sold as part 1XB07A, a 1-liter tank, and buying a liter in one tank rather than in 300-ml units brings down the cost of every milliliter. That route is Z9⁺-only — HP lists the 776 range for that series and not for the Z6 — so on a Z6 this 300-ml tank is the magenta you order, while the 746 range itself fits both. Don’t order this by mistake

Two traps. P2V78A is the lowest number in the 746 run, which invites the assumption that it is the black — it is not: the run reads Magenta, Yellow, Cyan, Chromatic Red, Photo Black, Matte Black from P2V78A up to P2V83A. And on a Z9⁺ the 747 range matches this cartridge on volume while sharing not one color with it, magenta included.
