Description

Which printers take this part?

This is Z6 and Z9⁺ ink only — the Z6 24-in, Z6 44-in, Z6dr and Z6 Pro, and the Z9⁺ 24-in, Z9⁺ 44-in, Z9⁺dr and Z9⁺ Pro. PSE ships the Z6 platform as the Studio 24 Pro and the Studio 44. If the model your front panel reports is not on that list of eight, stop here and check the cross-reference before you raise the order.

What Cyan does on this platform

Cyan works with magenta and yellow as the process trio. Chromatic red sits beside those three as part of the extended 746 set, and on a Z9⁺ the 747 range brings gray, chromatic blue and chromatic green to the same job. The 747 range is listed for the Z9⁺ series only, so a Z6 is served by the six 746 colors. Because it is one of the more frequently used channels, cyan is worth watching on the front panel and is often reordered on its own. Confirm the cartridge slot designation on the front panel before you install the new tank.

Size, and the larger cyan tank we carry

This part holds 300 ml. The same cyan is made in one larger tank we carry, 1XB09A, a 1-liter 776 tank, which is showing out of stock as this page is written. Per milliliter it costs less than a 300-ml tank at every price the two parts have carried — but HP lists the 776 range for the Z9⁺ series only, so it is not a part a Z6 can use. On a Z6 this 300-ml cartridge is the cyan; on a Z9⁺ it is a choice between the two sizes. Either way, read the part number off the tank you are replacing before you order.

Don’t order this by mistake

The 746 numbers do not run in CMY order. P2V78A is Magenta, P2V79A is Yellow, and cyan is P2V80A — so anyone working down the run from 78 expecting cyan first will raise a purchase order for magenta. The 776 numbering bears no relation to it either: cyan there is 1XB09A, nowhere near this part number. And P2V25A is the 746 printhead, not an ink tank.

Questions schools ask about this part

Is cyan the same part number on the 776 tanks?

No, and the two numbering runs are unrelated. Cyan is P2V80A in the 300-ml 746 range and 1XB09A in the 1-liter 776 range. Read the number off the tank you are replacing rather than working from memory.

Our machine shows cyan low but the other colors are full. Can we order just the one tank?

Cyan is one of the more frequently used channels, so it can reach its low-ink warning before the others. You can order the single tank — there is no requirement to replace a full set at once. If a level looks wrong for what you have printed, call 866-788-7900.

Can we mix a 300-ml cyan with the 1-liter tanks in the other slots?

That is a machine-configuration question our records do not settle, because the 300-ml 746 cyan and the 1-liter 776 cyan belong to different HP families and HP lists the 776 range for the Z9⁺ series only. Call 866-788-7900 with your model and we will work it through with you.
