Description
HP part F9J65A, a genuine HP 130-milliliter Yellow cartridge in the 728 range and the smaller of the two yellow sizes offered for this school poster printer.
Which poster printer takes it
HP’s compatibility list for this part has exactly one entry, the HP DesignJet T830 MFP, and the 728 range appears against no other machine in our catalog. So the family number tells a T830 owner they are in the right range — but it is the part number that picks the cartridge, and the 728 range has eight of them.
What Yellow does on this poster maker
Yellow goes into more of a poster than the obviously yellow areas — greens, oranges and warm neutrals are mixed from it — and HP’s guidance for this part is that a spare is worth keeping on the shelf even in lower-volume settings. The range runs cyan, magenta, yellow and matte black, each in its own tank, so yellow is replaced on its own.
Size and cost per milliliter
The same yellow ink is also sold as F9K15A, a 300-ml tank that works out about 17% cheaper per milliliter. Choose this 130-ml cartridge when the smaller outlay matters more than the lowest cost per milliliter; both prices are shown on their product pages.
Don’t order this by mistake
The 130-ml colors run in sequence — F9J65A Yellow, F9J66A Magenta, F9J67A Cyan — so F9J68A looks like the matte black that finishes the row. It is not: F9J68A is 300 ml, and the 130-ml Matte Black carries an unrelated code, 3WX25A.

F9J65A: the questions we get asked
Is F9J68A the matte black version of this cartridge?
No. F9J68A is a 300-ml cartridge, not a 130-ml one. The 130-ml Matte Black for this range is 3WX25A, so the four 130-ml tanks are F9J65A, F9J66A, F9J67A and 3WX25A.
Our yellow empties before the other colors. Is that normal?
Yellow is mixed into greens, oranges and warm tones as well as the plainly yellow areas, so on mixed-color school work it is one of the tanks that moves. HP’s guidance for this part is to keep a spare available even in lower-volume settings.
How many posters will this print?
HP does not publish a poster yield for this part that we can stand behind, so we will not print a number. Call 866-788-7900 and we will work it out from your actual print mix and media.
