Part 1XB10A is the genuine HP 776 Chromatic Red ink cartridge, a 1-liter tank for HP DesignJet Z9⁺ poster printers. It is one of three chromatic positions this ink set carries in addition to its standard cyan, magenta and yellow.

Which printers take this part

The receiving machine has to be in the Z9⁺ series. Chromatic red is one of the few colors HP puts on more than one poster platform, so a Z6 school is not shut out — but it needs a different part: P2V81A, the 300 ml HP 746 chromatic red, which is listed for the Z6 as well as the Z9⁺.

What Chromatic Red does in this set

Chromatic red is one of the extended-gamut chromatic inks in this set rather than a replacement for any process color. It loads as its own position with its own reorder cycle, so it does not empty in step with cyan, magenta and yellow.

1 liter or 300 ml?

1XB10A holds 3.33 times the ink of P2V81A, the 300 ml HP 746 equivalent. The liter is the lower per-milliliter cost; the 300 ml P2V81A is the smaller commitment, and it fits a Z6 as well.

Don’t order this by mistake

The likeliest wrong order on this part is a neighboring number rather than a wrong color name: 1XB09A below it is cyan, a process color, and 1XB11A above it is photo black, so a digit read one out delivers a liter of the wrong ink at the same price. The second trap is the range. P2V81A, the 300 ml chromatic red, is an HP 746 part and it does fit a Z6 — a part working on two platforms is no evidence that this one does.

Does chromatic red replace magenta?

No. It is a separate position with its own part number, and magenta, 1XB07A, stays loaded independently.
