What Yellow does here

This printer’s 728 set is four tanks: cyan, magenta, yellow and matte black. There is no photo black in the range, so those four slots are the whole color system and yellow is one of only three chromatic inks carrying every hue on the page — school colors, highlight blocks, backgrounds and photographic warm tones alike.

Size options for yellow

Yellow comes in two sizes for this printer: 300 ml (F9K15A) and 130 ml (F9J65A). The 300 ml holds a little over twice the ink, so high-volume print rooms swap cartridges less often. Current pricing for both is shown on their product pages.

Two yellows, two part numbers

Yellow ships in two parts: F9K15A is the 300 ml, F9J65A is the 130 ml. The codes differ by two characters, so check the full eight-character part number against the tank you are removing rather than the last two digits. Volume is printed on the carton. The 130-ml colors run F9J65A yellow, F9J66A magenta and F9J67A cyan, but F9J68A is not a 130-ml color at all — it is the 300-ml Matte Black, and 130-ml Matte Black breaks the run entirely at 3WX25A.
