HP 738M 130-ml Magenta DesignJet Ink Cartridge (A24VNA)

What this part is

HP A24VNA is the magenta tank for the 738M platform, and the magenta printhead ships inside it — the ink and the nozzles for this one color are replaced together. This is the 130-ml size; the same magenta is also made in a larger tank.

Which printers take this part?

HP part number A24VNA — genuine HP 738M 130-ml Magenta, one cartridge.

• HP DesignJet T870 / XT870
• HP DesignJet XT950 / XT950 MFP

It is not offered for the T850 or T850 MFP, which draw magenta from the plain 738 range.

What the magenta channel does on this platform

Magenta is one of three color inks on this platform alongside black. Because the printhead is renewed every time the tank is, the magenta channel starts clean with each cartridge — which matters most in a print room where the machine sits idle between event seasons and one color comes back weaker than the others.

Two tank sizes, same magenta

Part 676N0A is the same magenta in a 300-ml tank for the same machines, and costs less per milliliter — current pricing is on its page. The 130-ml tank is the right call when the print room buys in smaller increments rather than when it is chasing the lowest cost per milliliter.

Do not order this one by mistake

Watch the single letter. A24VMA is cyan and A24VPA is yellow; this one, with the N, is magenta. And 498N6A is the plain 738 magenta for the T850 family — a different code with a different machine list, not a substitute for this cartridge.
