HP lists 1XB17A against one platform only: the Z6 series, in all four builds. That is the machine under the Education Studio 64 Pro, the PSE line that runs the six-cartridge 500-ml HP 775 range. This part is not listed for the Z9⁺ series.

What cyan does in this range

Cyan is one of the core process colors the printer uses across virtually every job, so it tends to need replacing more often than the specialist colors. More useful is what the 775 range leaves out: no gray, no chromatic blue, no chromatic green, no gloss enhancer. Those four exist only as Z9⁺ parts — 300-ml HP 747, and HP 776 in 1-liter tanks (500 ml for the gloss enhancer).

Size and cost per milliliter

Two tank sizes carry this color for the Z6 series: this 500-ml HP 775 tank and the 300-ml HP 746 cyan, part P2V80A. Per milliliter the 500-ml tank is the cheaper ink of the two; the 300-ml tank is the smaller single purchase order. Current prices for both are shown on their own product pages.

Don’t order this by mistake

Watch the 1XB numbering. Cyan at 500 ml is 1XB17A; at 1 liter it is 1XB09A. Subtracting ten fails here, because 1XB07A is magenta. Every 1-liter part in that run is a Z9⁺ item, so a guessed number lands on the wrong color and the wrong printer at once.

Is this the cyan our Studio 64 Pro uses?

Yes. On our set page the same tank carries the PSE order code PSI775C, so if your requisitions say PSI775C, 1XB17A is the HP number on the carton.

Can we buy one color on its own?

That is what this page is: one 500-ml cyan tank, one part number. The six-cartridge set is a separate line for schools changing everything at once.

Our old tank is marked 746, not 775.

Then order P2V80A, the 300-ml cyan. HP lists both ranges for the Z6 series, so the number on the tank you removed decides, not the badge on the printer.
