What Chromatic Blue adds

Cyan is not blue, and without a dedicated blue the deeper blues have to be built by mixing. This cartridge removes that step. HP’s stated purpose for it is to extend the range of blues and cyans the Z9⁺ can reproduce, which earns it a slot wherever one specific blue is non-negotiable: a district logo, a uniform on a team poster, a photographic sky.

What a milliliter costs here

At $198.95 for 300 ml, this tank works out to $663.17 a liter — arithmetic from the price and the volume of the cartridge on this page, nothing else. Chromatic Blue is also stocked as a 1-liter cartridge in the 776 range, part 1XB04A, for the same Z9⁺ machines; we stock the 747 range only at 300 ml. The liter costs less per milliliter than a 300-ml tank does, and by how much depends on the price carried on its own page, so check it there before a bulk reorder.

One digit from a different color

P2V85A and P2V84A differ by a single character and by one color: this is the blue, P2V84A is Chromatic Green. Price, volume and platform match, so no order form will flag a transposition. Separate this from P2V87A too — two along, and it adds no color at all.

What does Chromatic Blue do that cyan cannot?

Cyan covers the lighter, greener end of that region. The blues a district brand guide specifies sit deeper than cyan reaches, and HP supplies this ink to widen what the machine has available. It supplements the cyan tank rather than replacing it.

Does a Z6 have an equivalent part we should order instead?

Not among the ranges we carry. The Z6 runs 746 at 300 ml and 775 at 500 ml; both sets are matte black, photo black, cyan, magenta, yellow and chromatic red. On a Z6 there is no chromatic blue slot to fill.
